What it's like to Live in a Renovated Class A RV

RV

Reading time: 3 minutes

Amanda and David boles are The Rollin Boles and together they renovated this RV into their full-time luxury home. David has been working on a tugboat and barge in the Gulf of Mexico for the past eleven years, working three weeks on and three weeks off. Wanting to maximize their time together, they first moved into a 44 foot Toy Hauler for a year. They ended up seeling it and switched to their current Class A RV which they renovated in about a year.

This Class A RV is a 40 foot Tiffin Baton 2005 with a 100 gallon diesel generator in its front, generating energy for air conditioner and heater. In the storage spaces accessible from the outside Amanda and David store all of David's tools, a grill, propane tank for the grill, painting supplies, batteries and a Xantrex inverter. The exhaust for their propane and electric heater is also on the side of the RV. In battery supplies there are two Chassis batteries and four house batteries through which the couple can charge their devices if there is no electricity. At the back of the RV is a tow bar, allowing them to tow their Jeep behind while traveling. A ladder leads onto the roof where one can do maintenance or simply have a nice view. The other side of the RV has slides with awnings on top of them which prove handy for leaves and snow not to get stuck. Also accessible through the outside are: a 90 gallon fresh water tank, 70 gallon gray water tank and a 40 gallon black water tank plus a 35 gallon propane tank that runs their fridge, heating system and stove.

Nice wooden stairs lead into the RV and the space is so big one could totally forget they are in a home on wheels. There is plenty of storage space and handy baskets to keep things tidy. The front part can be closed off through lovely curtains, turning the area into a real living and dining room. The Jackknife sofa can be put flat or into sofa position. The kitchen is also more than spacious, with an extra countertop space to pull out and everything one needs and dreams of in a kitchen is available, a real house kitchen.

Across from the kitchen is the dining area. Amanda and David had stripped out the original bench seat because it looked more like a school bus. Instead they put a lovely chair there, leaving the original, foldable table intact decorating it with a nice map-sticker. Their fireplace is incredibly pretty and - surprisingly - electric. The shower is one of the reasons the couple got the RV in first place, being six foot seven big and having a skylight. Beside it is a small bathroom. In the spacious bedroom, Amanda has her own little corner dedicated only to her makeup and beauty products. There are plenty of closets and, very well hidden behind another closet, is their washer and dryer. Underneath the king size bed is the engine compartment, accessible through a small door on the floor, more storage space and above it hangs a fairly big TV.

"We love to adventure and explore new places, which is why we love this lifestile so much. From the start we said: Let's try it out, and if we don't love it we'll get get a house again. But you don't always need as much as you think you need, that big house, those fancy cars, you don't need all of those things to be happy. Traveling is really what makes us happy. If you want to be happy, get outside, go explore, go adventure. It can be hard to find work on the road and make money, but there's definitely jobs out there. Search for one, find one and make it happen!”.
